This review at DVD times indicates that one of the features of The Green Ray DVD (much cheaper on Amazon) is an interview between Serge Daney and Eric Rohmer subtitled in English.
From 1985 to 1990, Daney hosted a weekly broadcast called Microfilms on French radio station France-Culture. He interviewed Rohmer in September 1986. The French recording is available from the French Audio Visual Archives.

There is a radio interview from mircofilms between Daney and Rohmer on one of the UK DVD's from Tales of the Four Seasons, perhaps it is the same one.
ReplyDeleteWell spotted. I'm pretty sure it's the same one. Any interesting snippets?
ReplyDeleteIt was a over a year ago I rented them so can't really remember much, I remember Daney saying that The Aviator's Wife was a very important film for him but thats only because I hadn't seen that one then and that was one of the reasons I bought it. I do intend to buy Tales of the Four Seasons but, alas, theres so much stuff out there I want to get a copy of...
ReplyDeleteWould you remember which of the 4 DVDs in Tales of the Four Seasons had the interview? I'm thinking of renting it and doing a quick transcript.
ReplyDeleteDefinetly winter or autumn, sorry I can't be more specific but it was one of those. By the way thanks for this website it's a terrific resource you deserve credit for the work you put in
ReplyDeleteApologies I meant it's either springtime or winter, I misremembered which films were which. But it's one of those two as I was living at the same place when I saw them...
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe. I'll send a note to Artificial Eye to see if they can put my in touch with the person who put the DVD together.
